International Dance Day

THURSDAY, MAY 5, 2022 AT 11 AM – 4 PM

Sprung!! Integrated Dance Theatre in collaboration with Lismore QUAD are proud to be hosting a free inclusive community event for International Dance Day on Thursday May 5th, 11-4pm.

IDD celebrates dance in all its many styles, genres and flavours. We are excited about the diversity of dance practice and dancing communities that exist on the Northern Rivers. We also recognise the need to be sensitive to the current challenges our broader community is facing. We believe in the potential for dance to unite, uplift and connect and hope we are able to provide a small simple moment of joy.

The event features three inclusive, joy-filled workshops led by Sprung!! Ensemble artists, demos from local community dance artists/organisations, interactive dance games and Creative First Aid (Resilient Lismore) offerings.

If you are a Northern Rivers dance artist, facilitator or organisation and would like to be involved in IDD (with a demonstration, display or free participation in our ‘directory of dance’ - an information station were you can display fliers, timetables and class descriptions.) Email: katie@sprung.org.au

Story Catching

Sharing your story can help to process a traumatic event. Lismore Flood Stories storycatcher Jeanti St Clair offers one-on-one story-catching sessions and group workshops. Based on the impactful Lismore Flood Stories audio project, which explored how people were impacted and recovered from the 2017 Lismore Flood, these story-catching sessions and workshops are designed to support people to process what has happened to them, their family, friends and community.

Meraki Music

Unashamedly queer, non-binary singer-songwriter, storyteller and part-time comedian Meraki presents a live show that could quiet a football field. Meraki's music weaves a rich tapestry of activist sentiment that follows the love story between nature and spirit and explores the depths of capitalism, the patriarchy and colonialism in a way that will make you laugh and cry simultaneously. From outstandingly charismatic and intimate to energetic, all-encompassing and funky, their silky, heartfelt voice and melodic lines will take you deep inside your heart for a moment of raw storytelling.
